More Turmoil at Liverpool: Salah Left Out of the Squad to Face Inter Milan
Liverpool’s season just found another spark to ignite the tension.
As Arne Slot tries to steady a team struggling for rhythm, the omission of Mohamed Salah from the squad to face Inter Milan in the Champions League has opened yet another chapter of uncertainty around the club’s biggest star.
And this time, the warning signs feel sharper than ever.
One Full Training Session… Then a Sudden Exclusion
Salah completed the team’s final training session at the AXA Training Centre with no apparent physical issues.
Yet despite working as normal, his name was nowhere to be found in the 19-man list traveling to the Giuseppe Meazza.
Slot is also not expected to include him against Brighton next weekend — the match that would have been Salah’s final outing before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations, where Egypt debuts on December 15.
The question now hangs over the club with no filter:
Is this a technical decision? A disciplinary one? Or the clearest sign yet of an internal fracture?
Salah Speaks Out: “I Don’t Feel Loved at the Club”
The forward poured gasoline on the fire with unusually blunt comments.
“I’m very, very disappointed. It feels like the club is using me as an excuse,” he said, visibly frustrated by his current role.
Salah pointed to “broken promises” from the summer and admitted feeling betrayed after being benched in three straight matches — a stark contrast to his long-standing status as Liverpool’s attacking pillar.
He also addressed his relationship with Slot in direct terms:
“I’ve said many times that I had a good relationship with the coach… and now I don’t have any.”
Though his contract runs until 2027, he suggested that his future beyond AFCON is far from secure.
A Possible Farewell at Anfield Before Leaving for AFCON
Salah revealed that he invited his parents to the upcoming match against Brighton because it may serve as a temporary goodbye — or something more permanent.
“I’ll be at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans before I leave for the Africa Cup. I don’t know what’s going to happen after that,” he admitted.
This uncertainty comes as Liverpool’s collective form continues to dip:
- 9th in the Premier League, ten points behind Arsenal
- 13th in their Champions League group after five matchdays
A Decline in Output That Fuels the Internal Fire
After finishing last season with 29 goals and 18 assists, Salah has only 5 goals and 3 assists this campaign — one of them from the penalty spot.
It’s a dramatic drop-off for a player who has defined an era at Liverpool.
Now, that decline isn’t just a statistic.
It’s part of the fracture, part of the tension, and part of the growing uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool.
