Iraola frustrated by familiar Bournemouth errors as winless run continues
Andoni Iraola was left frustrated as his side conceded late on yet again to draw 1-1 with Burnley and extend their winless run.
Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola was left frustrated by familiar mistakes from his side as their winless run stretched to eight games following their 1-1 draw with Burnley.
The Cherries looked to be on their way to victory after breaking the deadlock through Antoine Semenyo in the 67th minute, but Armando Broja headed home in injury time to prevent Bournemouth from winning their first league match since late October.
Iraola could not hide his disappointment at his side's inability to hold onto a lead yet again, with four of their last six goals being conceded after the 75th minute, while they also had opportunities to increase their margin when they were in front.
He told BBC Sport: "We were feeling like we were having the best chances, but we didn't kill it.
"We are conceding a lot of set plays and it is a big punishment for us. We deserved to win.
"We should be 2-0 up so if something like this happens it is just 2-1. We didn't kill the game in the moments we were playing better.
"This is the Premier League and you cannot have these mistakes defensively and offensively."
Semenyo scored his 28th league goal for the Cherries, with only Joshua King (48) and Callum Wilson (41) netting more for the club, and he has been linked with a move away ahead of the January transfer window.
Iraola highlighted his importance to the squad, saying: "He is a massive player for us. That is not a big secret."
Burnley manager Scott Parker was left satisfied with a point on the road, which ended their seven-match losing streak, their worst in the top-flight for 121 years.
"There is no denying there was massive pressure on us down to the run we had been on," said Parker.
"We needed to stop that, really, so a massive result for us.
"We are in a fight, I am in a fight, these players are in a fight, and we will be in a fight for the rest of this season.
"When you are in a fight, you need certain ingredients, and we had that today."
Burnley didn't manage a shot until the 86th minute, their second-longest wait for an effort in Premier League history, but their equaliser would come just three minutes later through Broja's first league goal for the club.
That ended a run of 39 appearances without scoring for the Albanian, who netted his first goal since scoring for Chelsea in October 2023, and Parker hopes he can now embark on a scoring streak to help his side in their fight against the drop.
He said: "Forwards always base their games on goals.
"Full credit to Armando, he gets the goal, and that is massive for him, and hopefully that is a springboard for him to keep moving in the right direction, which he is doing."
