Declarations of War Between Barça and Madrid: Laporta Fires Back at Florentino
Tension between Barcelona and Real Madrid has reached a boiling point. This time, there were no filters, no half-measures — only words aimed straight at the heart of the rivalry.
A Clash That Was Bound to Explode
Recent comments made by Florentino Pérez regarding the Negreira case, delivered days ago in front of Real Madrid’s members and representatives, did not go unnoticed in Barcelona. The tone and institutional weight of the remarks made a response inevitable.
That response arrived during the Barcelona Christmas dinner at the Palau Blaugrana, where Joan Laporta chose to break his silence — and do so forcefully. With relations between the two clubs already severely damaged, the Barça president made it clear there was no intention of softening the message.
“They Do Nothing But Vomit Lies”
Laporta did not hold back. He went straight after Real Madrid and its president, opening his speech with a sharp accusation: “They are the ones who confuse power with despotism.”
The most striking line followed soon after. Laporta accused Madrid’s media ecosystem of manipulation, stating that they have “a disgraceful television platform that does nothing but vomit lies and constantly poison public opinion.” He insisted these attacks are aimed at discrediting Barcelona’s achievements, before firmly stating: “Barça is strong again, on and off the pitch.”

Accusations of Smear Campaigns and Bad Practices
The Barcelona president escalated his criticism by framing the conflict as something deeper than football. According to Laporta, Barça’s global stature has generated envy, which some “cannot handle.”
“They use bad practices and break every code of conduct — ethical, moral, and not just sporting,” he said, clearly referencing Real Madrid, even without naming them in every sentence. Laporta accused them of orchestrating permanent smear campaigns against the club’s crest, identity, and history. “This is something we will not allow,” he warned.
Unity, Defiance, and a Defining Message
Laporta closed his speech with an emotional appeal to unity. He highlighted that FC Barcelona continues to leave its mark in sporting, social, institutional, and economic areas, while accusing others of trying to “destroy or rewrite history.”
“They will not succeed,” he said firmly, promising that Barça is building “a new golden era” that will once again reach glory. His words were met with a standing ovation from club employees and professional athletes present at the event.
The message was unmistakable: the institutional war between Barcelona and Real Madrid is far from over — and Laporta has no intention of backing down.
