Morocco Come From Behind to Defeat Jordan and Win the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup
The Morocco national team claimed the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 title after defeating Jordan 3–2 in a thrilling final played on Thursday in Qatar, a match decided in extra time by a decisive goal from Abderrazak Hamdallah. Despite the loss, Jordan achieved the best finish in its history in the competition.
With this victory, Morocco secured its second Arab Cup title, following the one won in 2012 in Saudi Arabia. The Atlas Lions completed an unbeaten tournament, recording five wins and one draw.

The final could not have started better for Morocco. In the 4th minute, Oussama Tannane scored one of the goals of the tournament, spotting Jordanian goalkeeper Yazeed Abulaila off his line and launching a spectacular left-footed strike from over 50 meters, straight from his own half, to make it 1–0.
Abulaila, unfortunate in the play, collided with one of the goalposts while trying to recover and required medical attention. Jordan attempted to respond but struggled to trouble Morocco before halftime, narrowly avoiding further damage when defender Issam Smeeri cleared another Tannane effort off the line.

After the break, Jordan came out energized following the introductions of Odeh Al Fakhouri and Al Quraishi. The response was immediate. Ali Olwan headed home from a set-piece in the 48th minute to level the score at 1–1.
Jordan’s confidence continued to grow, and in the 68th minute, Olwan converted a penalty after a handball by Achraf El Mahdioui, putting Jordan ahead 2–1 and igniting celebrations among their fans at Lusail Stadium.

Hamdallah delivers the title in extra time
Morocco pushed forward relentlessly in search of an equalizer, and their pressure paid off in the 87th minute, when veteran striker Hamdallah pounced on a loose ball from a corner kick to make it 2–2 and send the final into extra time.
Early in the additional period, Jordan thought they had retaken the lead through Mohannad Abu Taha, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review for handball. Moments later, in the 100th minute, Hamdallah struck again, reacting quickest to another loose ball in the six-yard box to seal the 3–2 victory.
Morocco lift the trophy as Jordan make history
With the win, Morocco were crowned champions of the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, while Jordan finished runners-up, earning their first-ever podium finish and improving on their previous best result — fourth place in 1988 as tournament hosts.
The third-place match between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, also scheduled at Lusail Stadium, was suspended at halftime due to heavy rain, following a decision by Chilean referee Cristián Garay.
